- There was a woman whose name was "Katherine the Rock". She was supposed to have been practicing witch-craft - Black Art it was called.
Long ago there were no such roads as there are now. The man who had turf in a far-away bog had to take his turf out as far as the road with a donkey and "creels" or even bring it home all the way in this way.
One time a man was coming from the bog with a donkey and two "creels" of turf. He met Katherine and she asked him for some turf. He wouldn't give her any. "Well" she said "you will be nothing the richer of it." She turned away and when the man looked, he had nothing but two "creels" of "ragweed".
