  1. About eighty years ago there lived in Lavey a man named Ian Brogan and his wife, Peggy. They had no family.
    Ian had a sister married at Shercock. It was just before Xmas and the weather was cold, dry and frosty, and one morning after Ian had foddered the cattle he told Peggy he would go down to the bog, (about 1/2 mile away from his house) for a creel of turf. The frost was mighty severe at the time. It was clogs they wore
