   We raised the green shamrock; pulled down the English roses,
   While "lillying a bait" with the laurel,
   For when we left Cavan the trumpet did sound,
   Ye old Jerry walls of Farnham came down,
   I heard Cavan Brunswickers fled from the town,
   While his beef eating saints with their brogues and their bonnets
   Made an adieu complaint to Lord Farnham 'Look on us'.
