  1. A white woman used to appear at a ditch (in Aughakilmore) every night. A man used to pass her going off his ceilid every night, but he used to pay no heed to her. He used to tell the men in the ceiliding house about her. This night he was drunk and he said he'd find out what she was doing there. He brought another man with him. The other man brought a crook and he brought a tongs. When he came as far as the ditch he got afraid to go across, but at last he went. The first step he gave, the woman stood up in front of him and hit him in the chest. He fell back and was not able to get up, the other man had to carry him home. He had a running sore, where the woman hit him until he died.
