  1. In old times the people said there used to be a white horse in Sammon's Lough and that he used to often be out on the shore feeding. One day a cow came out of the lough and the Sammons brought her up to the house, but the lough rise after her and nearly ran in on Sammons' door, so they had to let go the cow. As soon as they did the lough went back again.
