The bride's parents gave her a fortune. Sometimes they gave her one hundred pounds and if they were very rich they give her more. The bride's friends inquire about the means of the bridegroom and if he had not enough land or money they will not allow the girl to marry him.
There used always be a wedding procession of sidecars. Sometimes there used to be over twenty cars. The bridegroom used to go to the bride's house and all used to start together. The bridgroom's car used to go first, the bride's next, then the cars of the guests. All start together now also.
A wedding feast is held in the bride's house. When the newly married pair come home they have wedding breakfast. The bride always has a large cake called the bride's cake. Each guest gets a piece of it. Long ago they used to have whiskey and porter. Each guest used to bring a present to the bride. The wedding feast lasted 24 hours.
