- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)"Don't count the chickens before they are hatched." This originated from the story of a very lazy woman that put down a lot of settings of eggs when the chickens were very dear. She did nothing only watching the chickens to come out. She went about and told all her neighbours that she would not plant her land this year as she had a couple of dozen chickens coming out. She said she would make a small fortune out of them that would keep her going. But she was left out in the cold for only a few of them came out and they died. So my poor woman was in a very bad way over all this and she had not even her garden planted. You may add to this another proverb to finish the story "She was building castles in the air."
