    1. The way to play Rates of the market is-
    All the men at the wake sit around in a ring. One man gives out the Rates of the market. He gives each one a different price, which he is to remember.
    Then he has a rhyme:
    " Buadlass was a man of honour and fame,
    And he earned his bread by this innocent game.
    If you don't remember what you are told,
    You must be beat when you are bold."
    Then he gets a bit of strap, and gives out rates of the market, and anyone who forgets his number gets ten strokes of the strap.
