- There is a Lime Kiln in a field along the road on our way home from school about a mile and a half from Kilskyre. People used to burn lime in it long ago. They had a fire of sticks in it and they used to put the lime in a bucket and put the bucket on the fire. It is a big high wall with a big hole at the bottom of it in the shape of a half moon. It is on the side of a hill and the back of the wall is covered with the hill. The hole is like an underground channel about a mile long but it is filled up with stones now as there is cattle grazing in the field.
