lord class so they were very friendly and often talked of Quinn.
His London friends would not believe all Garnett told them of his hero - Ambrose Quinn. So Ambrose was invited to Headfort House to help the servants there on one occasion when some English visitors were staying there.
He was ordered to take a small parcel from the first flat up to the top room of the House. He did so but remarked that the parcel tho' tidy enough was purty heavy. "It is 5 cwt of lead" says his companion. He flung it off his shoulder down on the ground.
It went clean through the floor boring a hole as it fell.
Later on when someone told him that there was 1/4 ton of lead in the tidy parcel he was raging and had like to kill someone.
Arithmetic was not his strong point.
