    are very lucky. Long ago everyone used to be married on a Sunday.
    A couple of hundred pounds was given in marriage as a fortune. There was often very hard bargaining. If there was not enough of money, stock, as cows, calves etc were added to it to pull it up to the sum asked.
    Marriages used to be celebrated in the evening. There was no nuptial Mass. Rich people were married in their homes.
