- About the year 1842 there was a lace factory in Kells owned by Mr. Colston. About 100 women were engaged in it.
This factory was situated where the Medical Hall now stands. - In the Kells Convent Cemetery there is to be seen a small stone holy-water font bearing the date 1798.
This date tells the year when the present Kells catholic church was erected.
The font was used in this church for over 70 years.
