  1. In a certain church a girl came to pray day after day before a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary for a good husband. She used to say her prayers out loud.
There happened to be some painters in the church and they made it their business to find out what she was praying for. So one of them hid behind a statue one day and when the girl made her request, he imitated a child's voice and said:- "No, I won't let my Mother get you a good husband."
The girl thinking it was the Holy Child that spoke said:- "Hould your whist a leanbh Íosa, and let your mother spake."
