  1. Long ago the people had no tea. They used to eat potatoes three times every day. The people used to eat their meals three times every day. These were called the breakfast, dinner, and supper. The breakfast was eaten at six oclock in the Summer time, and eight oclock in the Winter-time. The dinner was eaten at one oclock. The supper used to be eaten at eight oclock in the night.
Before the year 1847 the people used to eat potatoes three times a day. But when the blight came on the potatoes the people began drinking tea because they had nothing else to eat. The old people used to eat porridge. This was made by throwing oaten meal and Indian meal into a pot and to put water in along with the oaten-meal. Then they were boiled until it would harden.
