  1. Once upon a time there was a clever fox who used to be killing geese, hens and ducks. Mickey Harnet of Poll Dubh built a little house for his geese and he put a small window in it.
One night a fox came along and went in through the window and killed all the geese and ate some of them. When he had enough ate he tried to get out but he could not was it was much higher from the floor inside than from the ground outside.
In the morning when he heard the man coming to let out the geese he lay down and pretended to be dead. Mickey opened the door to let out the geese but they were all dead. Then he saw the fox on his back and he caught him by the tail and threw him out on the dung pile saying "You - you killed all my geese and now you are dead yourself."
"As go breágh leis an madra ruadh."! Then the man saw the fox was not dead at all and he followed him for half a mile with two dogs but the fox was too fast for them.
