- There is just one forge in the district and it is owned by the Naughans of Killeedy. Many years their people before them have been smits. The forge is situated by the side of the road and near Kantoker Creamery. It is built of cement and sand and covered with iron and one window in the front. The door is of a very make with a couple of horse shoes hanging in it. At the inside of the forge there is a big bellows and one fire place. The bellows is made of leather and a long handle to blow it. When the smith is at his work he uses an anvil a sledge and a hammer. The smith shoes horses asses and does other work in metal. The smith who works in the forge in the district do not make any farm implements but he repairs them. There is a small portion of the forge work in the open air. And that is for the ironing of the wheels.
