Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Saint Ita was born in Co Waterford. She was a daughter of a noble chieftain. Her father wanted her to marry but she did not obey him. She was very holy and had a vocation to be a nun. She was directed by God to Killeedy where she was to build her monastery. Crouds of girls came to her Convent to become nuns. All the Saint posossed was a black ass and she used travel long journeys with him. She was one day in Tournafalla and some people chased her Donkey with dogs and people say she cursed Tour.
    The remains of her abbey is still to be seen. It is a very ancient building all covered ivy. Her feast day is the 15th of January. High Mass is said in Raheenagh church also the rosary is recited in the graveyard where crouds of people gathed paying rounds. St Ita is said to be buried in the graveyard of Killeedy. Over her grave is a beautiful statue which is decorated every year. There is a holy well near the monastery where people drink the water and use it for cures.

  2. The only ancient ruin in this district is Killeedy Castle. It stands about a hundred feet in height. it is said to be built six hundred years ago but was destroyed by the Danes some years ago. The castle is surrounded by a great rise of ground. Some people say it is a bank stones. The foundation of the castle is supposed to be in one level with the bottom of the river which flows at the back. There is a low track
