- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Ballintubber, on e in Dores of Camas and two in Walshs of Raheenagh. Dores fort can be plainly seen from Walshs forts and the other fort can be seen from the one opposite the school. The fort in Dores is surrounded by hazel trees. The one in Walshs is surrounded by firzs it is called the firzy fort and the other is surrounded by white thorn bushs.
Surrounding each one of those forts a mote is cut out leaving an entrance in the middle. This trench was used by the Irish to keep the invaders out. They are round in shape. People go beyond to examine it but all that is to be seen is a centre is raised three feet above the ground. Macks and Dores fort are supposed to be haunted. I the nights the music could be heard for a distance, also lights running around the fort, and the sweet sound of singing, these are called the fairy forts. The only story connected with Macks fort was told by Con Mack himself. One evening as he was coming to Raheenagh to meet his Father , as he was passing the fort he saw a small little man beside the fort. He went to catch him. The little man pointed.
