After the pair leaving the Church rice and confetti are thrown on them for good luck and an old boot is tied on to the back of their carriage. A wedding feast is held in the bride's home. A wedding procession is held when a farmers son or daughter is getting married. - In olden times it used to be the custom to get married on Shrove Tuesday. It was always thought to be very lucky. The people were not very wealthy and they had not much money to give away to their sons and daughters.
There was a very old man in this district. He was a great match-maker. His name was William O Connell. The weddings were kept as a great secret for fear of stealing the bride away.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
