When Doctors were few the cures they had in this Parish were home made. The cure for Bronchitis was as follows. They first got a herb called Dandelion and put it into a flour bag. They then got a stone and beat the juice from it. When they had about a half pint of juice they added a pint of water to it. They then put it into a bottle and made it air tight. They left it there for a week and then the patient got three tablespoonsfull at the time this was supposed to ease the choking.
The cure they had for the yellow jaundice was - they first got a herb called the Dock and they beat the juice from it with a stone. When they had a cupful of it they mixed it with two pints of porter and gave it to the patient twice a day.
