- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)In the village of Creemully there is a "fairy fort" - about one mile from the school.
It is surrounded by a circle of whitethorn bushes. There is a deep drain also outside.
The land inside the fort is about four feet higher than outside.
Right in the centre of the fort is a 'lone' white thorn bush and old people would not cut it on any account. "The luck would leave your" they say, if you touch it; because the fairies want it for shelter.
In the village of Tubberavaddy now called Passage, there is a big farm called Lisnatea in which there is a large fairy fort. It is circular and raised about 4 feet above the surrounding fields. There is a deep drain all round and blackthorn bushes and briars grow thickly beside it.
Parkmore another village adjacent, has a large fort which is very high over the neighbouring fields. Unlike the other forts, it is bare of trees except for one large whitethorn bush in the centre. There is a deep dike round about but no water in it.
Cattle and sheep graze in the forts. In the summer they stand down in the dikes.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
