Ar an leathanach seo
- I know some fairy forts in the parish of Carracastle, where I first lived. Some people call them forts and others forts. There was one on our land in the townland of Carragooly and about a quarter of a mile from that one there are three others near each other. There are others scattered about through the district.
All of them that I have heard of are circular in shape. A raised fence of earth surrounds each one of them. There are (more) [?] trees round any of those in Carracastle, but I know one in Castlemore which has trees.
In the centre of each fort can be seen a little heap of stones. Under the heap are large flags and when those are removed a deep hole can be seen into the ground.
Some people explore those forts. They go down with candles and matches. There is a story that some boys were exploring the fort near my old home and one boy went down into the hole. After a short time he came(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
