- All over the country, we find memorials of our dear departed. These memorials are the headstones and tombstones that are to be seen in the various graveyards.
In the most remote places these graveyards are situated. They were always situated near a church, abbey or steeple, and in many cases only the ruins of the churches are now visible.
The nearest graveyard to me is Atharney graveyard - it is situated on the side of the road, about one mile ot the west of the village of Lisdowney.
Long ago a church was in the vicinity, and all that remains of it now is one ivy covered crumbled wall with a tree growing outside. A head stone, sacred to the memory of Father Delaney marks the resting place of the last curate in the church.
In an enclosed part of the grave yard the remains of the "Marums" are(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
