Clonin, Mountrath.
Born and reared in Clonin
Poem composed by Daniel Dowling
Castletown referring to bell-man Gunn of Birr.
WM. Miller Kirke native of Keady referred to was landlord of Clonin, did great work, drain the bogs, made roads, and paid for lime and drainage, made Jim Campions lane passable).
I;
I'm a loyal Birr man,
Dan Gunn it is my name,
I suffered for the Land League
I hope you'll do the same.
I suffered for the Land League
I suffered o'er and o'er
And Drumlead Tray he sent me
To the gaol in Tullamore.
II;
I hear there are some notices,
Gone thro' the country round,
Some notices for rack rent,
To seize both house and ground.
A grabber's name is one of them.
Then with one wild hurrah.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
