- Seán Breen pupil, got this poem which was about days of Land League when farmers were prevented from hunting the fox. From John Delaney, Clonin, Age 80 years, who said it was written by Danny Dowling, Castletown, * Blackbird was a nickname.No more in Gashin's furze you'll hear.
The huntsman's horn sound
No more in Wistfield's hills and vales
They run the fox to ground.On Forest's verdant slope you'll hear,
The tally-ho no more.
And sweet Kilowen is silent now,
And so is Derryfore.The echo of the beagles yells.
Shall never be heard alas!
Reverted thro' the windy dells;
Of beateaus Clontyglass.The black-bird on his mountain perch
May sit and sigh all day,
While Reynard sleeps quite tranquilly
And the huntsmen are at bay.- Bailitheoir
