    Joseph Stephenson Ringwood, the Rower was a great runner. He challenged a man named Kiely of Carrick-on-Suir and defeated him.
    His brother Tobias was also a good runner. He won several events in Kilkenny and the surrounding counties.

  2. Thomas Hamilton, Tullogher, Inistioge, won many cycle races in the parish of Inistioge and Thomastown. He brought home prizes every place he went.
    James Long of the same place straightened his arm under a boy five stone weight.
    John Forristal Colmcille, Thomastown straigtened his own arm under a six stone weight axle.
