- Some years ago a rich man lived in Annamult about three miles from Stoneyford. He lived in a very big house with his wife. A great many servants worked for him. One day he chastised a maid for something wrong she did. She became very angry. She went to her room, packed up her clothes and threw them out through the window. Having done that she set fire to her bed and went away unnoticed by the other girls. The flames got on to the wallpaper and after a short time the whole house was in flames. Everyone escaped un-injured but a lot of damage was done.
