    locality. Many people were killed or injured by lightning. There was a house not many miles from here in which lived two children with their father and mother. On the day of the thunder-storm the father was gone to work as usual, the mother was gone to town, and the two children were alone in the house. There was a clothes-line across the house, one end being fastened to the chimney, and there was were clothes on it. The two children were sitting under the line. One flash of lightning came down the chimney, burned the clothes on the line over their heads, but the children escaped.

    In this locality where I live a very heavy thunder-storm occurred.
    It uprooted trees, and blew the roofs off houses. It occurred in the year 1804.
    The thunder-claps were terrific, and the rain fell in
