- I have a small barrel churn at home. It is about one foot in height and is cylindrical in shape about 20 inches in length. I have heard of churn which was in our house about 60 years ago. It was about 4 1/2 feet high and wide at the bottom and getting narrow from within one foot-and-a-half of the top. The sides were round like a tub. The parts of it were the Body, Rim near the top, the Lid, the Staff, and the churn dash. The Cup.The dash had three holes in it. We send most of our milk now to the Creamery but we keep the milk of one cow at home for our own use and to make butter with the small barrel churn. We make butter once a week in summer. In the winter we make it once in Eleven or Twelve(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
