  1. My home District
    My home district is situated ten or maybe more miles from Sligo and nine miles from Ballyfarnon. The name of it at present is Carrick-Coola. there are twenty-two or twenty-three houses in it. Some of these are low thatched houses and more of them are two-story slated houses. There are about eight cottages, which are convenient to the public road, all except three. There are a few ruins of old houses in some parts of the land. My home district consists of three townlands, namely Kilcullew, Coola, and Rockbrook. In olden times, there once lived a man the name of, William Robert Mc Cloghry, who was fame and honoured on account of his great skill at work and also on account of his great learning. He died about sixteen years ago, at the age of seventy years. There also lived a man the name of George Taylor, who was noted for poteen making. These were the only two families that were honoured or
