beautiful coal fire burning brightly in a nice little iron grate. They concluded that this must be the kitchen, for it was furnished with very old fashioned furniture, as chairs and seats were made of stone. So they set about looking for the safe which contained the treasure. This they found with great difficulty. And, when they were about to break open the lock, a fairy appeared to them. "My men, you are late," he said, "the treasure is gone". "It was taken three days ago by a small man living close by." So the men were not content, They searched everywhere but nothing could be found.
Thomas McNulty is the man whom I got this story from. he lived in Ballysumaghan, Ballintogher, Co Sligo all his life. He is a farmer by trade and is about one hundred years of age.
