   In olden times people got rid of their ailments quicker and easier than the people of the present time. They made up the cures themselves and some people have the power of curing even now.

   To cure a child who has the chin cough the mother of the child has to pass the child under the legs of an ass three times in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost Amen. This is supposed to cure the child.

   A child who drinks ferrets leavings will be cured of the whooping cough.

   When a child is suffering from a foul mouth someone who is born after his fathers death will cure the child by breathing into its mouth three times. A woman in Ballisodare has the cure for the whooping cough. Mamma got it once for my sister and she just got a plain piece of bread and butter for her.
   The old people used to suck the white juice from the stem of the dandelion because it was supposed to keep them from all diseases.
