His mother asked him how much he got for the blanket. He told her that he saw a bush(ing) crying with the cold and that he put the blanket on top of it to keep it warm.
She hunted him out of the house to go get the blanket. Tom went to the bush but the blanket was not there. He got a stick and began beating the bush and asking it to give him the blanket but the bush would not give it to him.
He kept beating it until he cut it down to the roots. There he got a lot of yellow things.
He put some of them into his pocket and returned home. His mother asked him where was the blanket. He told her that the bush would not give it to him and that he cut it down to the roots with a stick.
