Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The name of my district is Kilrusheighter. There are thirteen families in the townland and forty two people. Cogans is the commonest name in it. There are some of the houses thatched some slated and galvanised iron on one house.
The meaning of the name of this townland is the church of the lower down cape because cill means a church, ruis = a cape and íocrair = lower down.
There are five people over seventy years in it They can speak and tell stories in English but not in Irish. Their names and addresses are - Mrs Lolan, Kilrusheighter Templeboy, John Tolan, do., Mrs Dunne, do., Pat Scanlon, do., Mrs Burke, do.
There was another family in this townland some time ago and the ruin of their house is there yet. It is the only ruin in the townland. Many people emigrated to America and England to earn their living. There is no song or story about it.
The land is good except in or two places where about an acre or two is boggy. There is a river flowing through it and another separating it from another townland.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
