Entertainments of all sorts, music, singing, and dancing were held there until morning and attracted the surrounding people to the Castle. It is said that a good deal of food was consumed at the Castle each day. A huge bullock, a fat sheep, and dozens of wild fowl were distributed among the various tables of the Castle each day.There is also a story told about this old Castle. The Lords and Ladies who lived in it were known by the people around to be a very lazy clan. It is said that an attempt was made to change the course of the river Brick which flows a short distance away from the Castle. The daughter of one of the Lords wanted to fish from the window of her room and this could not be done unless the course of the river was changed. Workmen were immediately brought to perform the task but the girl died before the work was completed. The sign of the attempt to change the course of the river is still to be seen.(continues on next page)
