  1. There are a great number of harmful weeds growing on our farm at home namely the Dock leaf, the Flaggon, the Thistle, the Nettle, the Hohalaun, the Red Shank, the Chicken Weed and many others.
Among these herbs there are many cures. The cure for a sting of a nettle is to get three Dock leaves and rub them to the affected part immediately. The cure for Rheumatism is to rub Nettles to the affected part. It is supposed to be cured in a dew days.
The cure for the measles is to drink nettle tea. This is made by first boiling the nettles, then straining the juice and drinking it. The Dock leaf is very harmful because it spreads rapidly and destroys the land.
The Red Shank grows among the potato crop and destroys the potatoes. The Chicken Weed is used as food for fowl. It is first cut up into very small pieces. Then it is boiled for about fifteen minutes and Indian meal is put on it, and it is given to the fowl.
The moss wich grows on a stone is used for dyeing woollen materials. First the moss is boiled, and then the garment is steeped in it. The Dandelion is sometimes used as medicine. Water cress grows by the side of a spring well, and at the edge of a river. It is sometimes used as food for fowl.
