  1. The Care of the feet.
Long ago many grown-up people used to go barefooted during the Summer months. Nowadays all people are inclined to wear boots. Owing to the heat the people used to have to go barefooted. They used not wear any stockings either but "Treheens". The "Treheens" were much like stockings but they had no vamp in them. They were only worn from the ankle to the knee.
They say that it is unlucky to leave the water in which you wash your feet in the house at night. It should be flung out because if you did not fling it out the fairies would come in to wash their feet.
Clogs were worn until about twenty years ago. Clogs were made of leather with timber soles. They were laced with "fongs" which were made of leather.
John Flannery, Killimore is the only shoemaker in this district.
