- The common known birds known in our district are the wren, Robin, blackbird, thrush, crow, sparrow, yellow hammer, wild duck, Goldfinch, wagtail, pidgeon, magpies, and the water-hen.The migratory birds are the cuckoo, the swallows, the wild Geese, and the woodcock. The wren builds her nest in the wall and hatches about sixteen or eighteen eggs. The robin builds her nest in the banks or in the hedges and hatches about five eggs. The robin got her red breast from the blood which fell from Our Lord when he was crucified. The blackbird builds her nest int he hedges and hatches about five eggs.
