  1. The way the people cured whooping-cough long ago was, the person that had the whooping-cough had to crawl between a donkey's legs.
    The way to cure a "Stye" on your eye was to take nine "jags" of a gooseberry bush and put them on the "Stye" and then throw them away.
    The way to cure "warts" is to get a snail and rub it on the "warts" for nine mornings, and on the ninth morning you would put the snail on a bush where it cannot get to the ground, and keep it there till it withers.
