- Weather lore
There are many signs of weather in this district. When the wind blows from the south we know it is going to rain. There is a saying here “Caipín ar Cruacán, agus Cam Seangan ag caiteam tobac”.
Cruacán is a little hill in the South West of Clonea .When rain is threatening a cloud rests on it “Com Seangán” is a lake in the Comeragh mountains. Before rain a fog comes up from it in gushes like smoke from a pipe. Another sign of rain is when the crows tumble over in the sky. It is sure sign of rain when the cat turn his back to the fire.
When a crowd of sea gulls come far inland it is a sign of hard weather. When there is a golden sunset it is a sign if good weather- Bailitheoir
