    father was looking at the cloak when one of the boys spied him. This boy immediately told his mother what he had seen.
    On hearing the news the mermaid, filled with anger, took her children to the seashore and turned them into three stones. She herself went back to the sea. The three stones are still to be seen at Enniscrone.
    From that day onward there was never known to be an O'Dowd living in Ardnaree for there is supposed to be a curse left on them.
