    Each bird lays a number of eggs. The blackbird lays four or five eggs, The robin lays five or six eggs, The pigeon lays two or three eggs. The thrush lays five or six. The crow lays eight or nine eggs and the wren lays eighteen eggs. And when the birds have their eggs laid they hatch on them for three weeks and then the small birds are out. The weather can be judged by some birds. The swallows, if they fly low, denote bad weather and if they fly high this is a sign of good weather. If the cuckoo comes early in the year it is said that it will be a good year for crops
