  1. A house named Newberry Manor was burned in 1921. It was burned because it was to become a barrack for British soldiers.
    Another house was burned near the town of Mallow for the same reason. An excursion train with a party from England got a free run from Lombardstown to Killarney. When coming back, through some mistake, the train got off the line crashed and turned on its side. Four or five were killed and a great many injured. A boy named John Sheehan was drowned washing sheep in the Blackwater.
