    1st March 1938.
    Houses long ago.
    The roofs of houses long ago were thatched with rushes.
    The fire was usually at one corner of the house and there was a hole in the roof for a chimney and there was a campbed at the other end.
    The majority of the houses had only one door and one window ,and the firing mostly used was bog=dale and sticks.
    People used make their own candles from tallow .
