  1. The principal wild animals of this district are the fox, badger, deer, squirrel, rat and the mouse and the weasel. The fox does the biggest damage to the fowl. The badger rutes [?] the ground in search of roots. The squirrel lives on nuts. The rats and mice live on oats an' wheat. The weasel kills young ducks and geese and drinks their blood.
