  1. There are not many forts in this parish. There is one joining our farm. It is on the side of a hill. There is a mound of earth and a circle of white thorn trees around it. All the forts can be seen from each other. They are situated an equal distance from each other. It is considered very unlucky to interfere with them. Torts are supposed to be very lonely places at night. There were many strange tales told about them. When a person died around
