  1. St Fionnacta is the patron Saint of this parish. His church is in the townland of Ballysheen about a half mile from this village. The chalice and bell were thrown into the river O Garney and it is said that the bell rings every seven years. Before he died he prayed to god that no one in Sixmilebridge would get killed by lightning, and it has been noticed that no damage has being done by lightning.
