    were made of homespun linen. The women spun the flax into thread in their own homes. The thread was then taken to a local weaver. He wove the thread into cloth. The linen was then bleached and made into shirts and they wore for years.
    The last man in this parish was Thomas Monaghan of Threecarvaghs parish of Knockbride, barony of Clonkee Co. Cavan. He had a hand loom in his own house and he ceased working about fifty five years ago. He died about twenty years ago. My father says he remembers seeing him making linen when he was a boy going to school. When linen ceased to be made the people bought woollen or cotton and the women made it into shirts at home. but at present everyone
