bridegroom and bride appeared on the scene. The bridegroom ordered the bestman to distribute some drink among the straw-boys. After this a jar of whiskey was forthcoming and everyman got his "crínsgín". Then the straw-boys called on the bride for a dance and if she performed on the light fantastic she came outside asked for the two called the "fox-hunter's jig" and they started dancing for all the were worth. The whiskey and poteen were brought out again and they got another medar. They danced away perhaps for an hour. Then the ladies carried a table, laden with food, out into the yard and the strawboys partook of a sumptuous supper. Before they took their departure they wished the bride and bridegroom every success.
