The same man said he dug for potatoes from early morning to night fall on Hallow Eve and all he had to take home was about a stone. It was a great treat to roast the potatoes that night and that was the first bit to eat he got from early morning.
It was a great treat to get a piece of oaten bread well buttered and the only place you were sure to get that was at Charles Brady's Cormaddyduff at that time.
